| 9501 |  | Obituary- Ronnebaum, Donald 1 Donald (Don) August Ronnebaum, 88, passed away peacefully after his lengthy battle with cancer on Saturday, March 5th, 2022, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. Don was born in Baileyville, KS on June 28th, 1933, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Reinecke) Ronnebaum. As he grew up, he worked on the family farm with his father, five brothers, and sister. Don was then drafted into the United States Army in 1951. In his time with the Army, he served in Washington D.C. He married Rose Marie Martin on October 27th, 1956, in Hanover, KS. Shortly after getting married, they purchased a farm near Delia, KS, where they raised their six children. This is where Don passed along his love for fishing to his children, as they spent many hours fishing at their farm ponds. Don worked as a Machinist at Allis Chalmers in Topeka, and then later worked at Jeffery Energy Center as a Machinist as well, where he retired from in 1995. He was a member of the United Electrical Workers (UEW) of America and the International Machinist Union. Don and Rosie moved to St. Mary’s in 1996, where they built their retirement home. They lived many happy years together in this home, where they created and shared memories with their children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, Don enjoyed spending time restoring cars in his shop, fishing, and camping. Don and Rosie spent every summer in their camper at Tuttle Creek Lake. The two were happily married for 60 years and Don loved nothing more than spending time with Rosie. She preceded him in death in 2017, after her hard-fought battle with cancer in which he was always by her side. He also experienced a great loss in his son David, in 2019. After Rosie and David’s deaths, one of his greatest joys was being able to go on the Kansas Honor Flight with his granddaughter, as his student guardian. This was a time when he was able to reflect on his days in the service, and some of the moments that truly shaped his life. Don had many happy memories of the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a man of great Christian faith and instilled that in his children as well. Don and Rosie were longtime parishioners of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary’s. He was also a 3rd degree Knight in The Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his children, Terry (Carol) Ronnebaum, Topeka, KS, Mike (Janet) Ronnebaum, Axtell, KS, Jeanne (Nick) Disidore, Spring Hill, KS, Linda Luthi, Lawrence, KS, and Diane (Jim) Todd, Kansas City, MO, daughter-in-law Beth Ronnebaum (David), Ottawa, KS, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. | |

| 9503 |  | Obituary- Ronnebaum, Rose ROSE MARIE RONNEBAUM Rose Marie “Rosie” Martin Ronnebaum, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 14,2017, peacefully at home after courageously battling cancer for two years. Rosie was born in Hanover on April 2, 1936, the daughter of Margaret and Sylvester Martin. She graduated from Hanover High School. After graduation, she worked for; the State of Kansas in Topeka, until she married Donald A. Ronnebaum on October 27, 1956. After marriage, Rosie enjoyed raising her six children on a farm. Later in life she worked for USD No. 321 as a cook until she retired. Don and Rosie moved to St. Marys, in 1996. Rosie loved her flowers and her hobbies included tending to her flower garden, sewing, quilting, gardening, reading and camping. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. In her retirement years she liked to travel and camp. Rosie thoroughly valued her time she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joe Martin and a sister-in- law Mariane Martin. Rosie leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Don of the home. Other survivors include her children, Terry (Carol) Ronnebaum, Topeka, Mike (Janet) Ronnebaum, Axtell, David (Beth) Ronnebaum, Rossville, Jeanne (Nick) Disidore, Lenexa, Linda (Dan) Luthi. Wamego, and Diane (Jim) Todd, Lenexa; brothers, Dennis and Lawrence Martin, Hanover and Vern Martin, Aurora, CO; her sister. Ruth Grieves, MN; 15 grandchildren and three- great- grandchildren. | 9504 |  | Obituary- Ronsse, David St. Marys—David A. “Dave” Ronsse, 69, passed away late Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital. He was born October 24, 1951, at Wamego, the son of Joseph Raymond and Mary Kathleen Ahearn Ronsse. Dave graduated from St. Marys High School with the class of 1970. He joined the United States Navy in 1971 and served until 1975, and served aboard the USS American 66, and was stationed in Viet Nam. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he worked for Poppelreiter Farms and later for the utility department for the City of St. Marys retiring in 2014. Dave was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. He was the Commander of Aubert-Walls VFW Post No. 7796 in St. Marys. Dave enjoyed woodworking and making toys, he also enjoyed camping and traveling. He loved family time and get-togethers. Dave was a great Kansas State University fan and was the grandson of the late Michael F. Ahearn whom the Ahearn Fieldhouse was named for. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marie Crawshaw. On February 25, 1984, he was united in marriage to Christy Pearl in St. Marys. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Ryan (Andrea) Ronsse, St. Marys and Adam Ronsse, Alma; his brother, Michael (Nancy) Ronsse, Springfield; two sisters, Kate Brehn and Maggi Ronsse, both of Topeka; five grandchildren, Carter, Ryder, Emma, Ella, and Everett. | 9505 |  | Obituary- Ronsse, Ernest ERNEST RONSSE Ernest F. Ronsse, 81, of St. Marys, Kansas, prominent lamb feeder and stockman died Monday afternoon in St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, after a short illness. He was born August 14, 1876 in Renaix, Belgium, and came to this country with his parents when he was 6 years old. He settled on a farm in the Sandy Hook Community near St. Marys, where he has since made his home. He was united in marriage to Nora Downing of St. Marys at the Immaculate Conception Church, St. Marys in 1911. Mrs. Ronsse preceded him in death July 22, 1947. Mr. Ronsse was associated with his brothers for many years in extensive lamb feeding, stock raising and farming. He was an Honorary Member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus for fifty years. He was a member of the Farmers Union Sandy Hook Local for many years. The rosary was recited at 8:30 P. M. Wednesday at the Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Funeral services will be at 9:00 A M today at the Immaculate Conception Church, St. Marys. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Ronsse is survived by one son, Ernest F. She was born Nov. 12, 1915, at Madison, the daughter of Vern P. and Mary Myrtle Rake Hoobler. She graduated from Maple Hill High School. She had lived in St. Marys many years. Mrs. Ronsse was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. She was united in marriage to Leo I. Ronsse on Aug. 24, 1940, at St. Marys. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1992, a daughter Mary Jo Ronsse preceded her in death on April 2,2008. Mrs. Ronsse was also preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Raymond, Dwight, Albert and Lloyd Hoobler. Survivors include four sons, Robert (Darlene) Ronsse, John (Donna) Ronsse, William (Terri) Ronsse and Perry (Anna) Ronsse, all of Topeka; a daughter, Ann (Ray) Barthuly, St. Marys; three brothers, Forest Hoobler, Topeka, Everett Hoobler, St. Marys, and Lester A. He was born April 18, 1957 in Topeka, the son of Leo I. and Mildred N. Hoobler Ronsse. Bill graduated from St. Marys High School. Bill worked at the Topeka Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant in Topeka for 35 years. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local 307 in Topeka. Bill was a member of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jo Ronsse. On July 9, 1977 he was united in marriage to Terri Droegemeier in St. Marys. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Tanner Ronsse, Topeka; his daughter, Billie Billings, Topeka; three brothers, Robert (Darlene) Ronsse, Topeka, John (Donna) Ronsse, Morristown, TN., and Perry Ronsse, Manhattan; his sister, Ann (Ray) Barthuly, St. Marys; his grandson, Reice. | 9508 |  | Obituary- Roosevelt, Craig Craig Wallace Roosevelt Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gage Park Baptist Church for Craig Wallace Roosevelt, 23, Topeka. He died Friday, Feb. 17, 1989, at an Olathe medical center. He had been ill. He was born Dec. 30, 1965, at Lakeside, Calif., the son of Jack and Diane Diehl Roosevelt. He had been a Topekan since 1967 and was graduated from the Capper Foundation May 20, 1987. Mr. Roosevelt participated in the Kansas Special Olympics and United Cerebral Palsy Games and attended the Muscular Dystrophy Camp. He was a member of Gage Park Baptist Church, Boy Scouts of America, the Garden Club, Art Club, sports class, performing arts and Youth for Christ. Survivors include his mother, Diane Buchannon, Topeka; his father, Jack Roosevelt, Corona, Calif.; three sisters, Jackie Parr and Sherry Flores, both of Houston, and Krissy Pfefferle, Pitman, N.J.; a brother. Rusty Roosevelt, Salina; and grandmothers, Elizabeth Diehl, Perry, and Leona Clayberg, Corona, Calif. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. | 9509 |  | Obituary- Root, Luther Luther H. Root, 70, retired farmer died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edna Figgins, 153 Story street Monday morning. He was born March 5, 1862 and was widely known in Silver Lake and vicinity. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge of Silver Lake. He retired from the farm 12 years ago. He had made several trips to California in recent years and had been home only three weeks. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen W. Root, Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Figgins, Topeka; Mrs. Louise Whitehead, Rossville and Mrs. Jeanette Regnani, Topeka; two sons, Fred A. Root, Tecumseh and Theodore L. Root, Silver Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Hughes and Miss Sarah Root of Ingleside home and Mrs. Laura Worland, Topeka and 11 grand children. The funeral was held at Grace cathedral at 2:30 o’clock Thursday morning. Interment was made in Rochester cemetery. The body lay in state at the Penwell mortuary from 9 until 12 o’clock Thursday morning. | |

| 9511 |  | Obituary- Ropp, Sarah Mrs. John Ropp Passed Away Sarah Jane Ropp aged 78 years 2 months and 22 days passed away at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, Feb. 10, after a short illness. Her death was due to over exertion in caring for the sick members of her family. Mrs. Ropp had been frail for years with frequent attacks of her heart and her age made each attack of increasing severity. Sarah Jane Kelley was born November 19, 1841, at Hartford, Backford County, Indiana. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to John R. Ropp at Hartford City, Ind., where they lived until 1869 when they came with their family to Kansas settling first at Silver Lake where they resided for about three years. Next they moved to the Wilmot farm near Maple Hill for one year and moved to Rossville in 1873 where the family has resided since. Mrs. Ropp united with the Methodist church in 1875 at services held at that time in the old school building on north Navarre street and has continued in that faith. Ten children were born to Mrs. Ropp three of whom survive her. Forrest with whom she has made her home since the death of her husband, Grant, of Wakeeney, Kansas, and Mrs. Minnie Haywood, of Rossville. Other surviving relatives are her brother, Joe Kelley and half brother, H. Themas both of Hartford, Ind. The funeral was held today at 2 p.m. at the home conducted by Rev. McCulloch of the Methodist church and interment made in the Rossville cemetery. | |
| 9512 |  | Obituary- Rose, Allen Allen Leroy Rose Allen Leroy Rose, 86, Rossville passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Colmery-O’Neil VA. Hospital in Topeka. He was born May 26,1930 in Metcalf, Illinois, the son of James and Dorothy Rogers Rose. Allen attended Charleston High School in Charleston, IL. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was wounded in combat on February 22,1951. Allen was awarded a purple heart and a bronze star for bravery. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married to Dolores Britt on October 24, 1952. She survives at the home. Other survivors are two sons, Steve (Nancy) of Delia and Randy, of Sabetha; his daughter, Sandee (Steve Schnelz) Milwaukee, WI; a sister, Donna Satterfield, Charleston, IL; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; three sisters and three brothers. Memorial services were Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Inurnment followed in the Rossville Cemetery with military services conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion. | 9514 |  | Obituary- Rose, Marie Mrs. Marie A. Rose Mrs. Marie Anna Rose, Silver Lake, died Friday, June 23, 1989, at a Topeka convalescent center. She had cancer. Mrs. Rose worked at Morrell’s Packing Plant during her early adult life. After rearing her family she worked for Sears until she retired in June 1982. She was born Feb. 12, 1921, on a farm north of Delia, the daughter of Renne and Zoe Daniels De Wilde. She attended grade school near Delia and high school in St. Marys. She had lived in Topeka before she moved to Silver Lake 13 years ago. Mrs. Rose was a member of Arab Shrine Ladies, Provost Guard Unit, Santa Fe Retired Employees Club and Sears Retirement Club. She was married to Ralph E. Rose May 1, 1947, in Perry. He survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Snell, Rita Snyder and Betty Francis, all of Topeka, and Ruth Bitters, Salinas, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Half-Day Cemetery at Elmont. Mrs. Rose will lie in state from 2 p.m. Saturday until service time at the mortuary where the family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday. | 9516 |  | Obituary- Rosetta, Calvin Calvin “Fred” Rosetta Calvin “Fred” Rosetta, 75, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 22,2017. Fred was born November 5,1941 north of Osage City on the Rosetta Farm. He was the son of Victor F. Sr. and May Kinney Rosetta. He attended Osage City High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. He was joined in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Carrick January 20,1968 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. They lived in Winslow, Arizona for five years, Amarillo, Texas for seventeen years and Lubbock, Texas for eighteen years before moving back to Kansas in 2004. Fred worked for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for 29 years. He began his career as a Machine Apprentice at the Topeka Shop. He transferred to the Engineer Department in 1968 and became a Welding Engineer, working in Winslow, Arizona, Amarillo, Texas and Pueblo, Colorado. He would retire from the railroad in 1990. During his time in Amarillo he earned an Associate’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986. Fred would use his degree to start his own business, Iron Horse Rail Services which he operated until 2004 at which time he and Mary moved back to their home in Kansas. His love for Texas is best expressed in the old saying “You can take the man out of Texas, but you can never take Texas out of the man.” His numerous memberships included, The American Railroad Engineers of America, Farm Bureau and Knights of Columbus Council 7769 of Osage City and Scranton where he served as Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight and at present, Financial Secretary. Fred was a Fourth Degree member of KOC Assembly 268 in Topeka. Fred enjoyed running his tractor, working on the farm, playing golf, hunting, fishing and volunteering for the Knights of Columbus and his parish and Church. Fred will live on in the hearts of his wife of forty nine years, Mary of their home near Reading; two sisters, Marjorie McDonald of Topeka, Kansas and Mary Colson of Rossville, Kansas; two brothers, Victor F. Rosetta, Jr. of Kimberling City, Missouri and John Rosetta of Berryton, Kansas; several nieces and nephews extended family and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor F. Sr. and May Rosetta. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Church. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening. Burial will follow services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery north of Reading. | 9517 |  | Obituary- Ross, Adam Adam Ross Passes Away Adam Ross passed away last Monday afternoon after being bedfast for about four weeks. Mr. Ross had not been in the best of health for about a year. Mr. Ross was a veteran of the civil war being a member of Company D. 149th Ohio Inf. He was born in Ross county Ohio, March 11th, 1838, being 77 years, 6 months and 2 days old at the time of his death. He moved from his old home in Ohio in 1885, coming to Wamego, Kansas, where he lived until 1890 when he moved to Rossville where he had resided since. On September 16th, 1866 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Ault. To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls. The three boys preceded him to the great beyond. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Dell Porter and Miss Alice Ross and three grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Ward, and interment made in the Rossville cemetery. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Fred Simms and two daughters, of Dennison, Lee Ross and Mrs. Celina Ross and daughter Mrs. Cutright of Wamego, Jess Ross and Mr. and Mrs. D. | 9518 |  | Obituary- Ross, Clyde Clyde H. Ross OSAGE CITY - Clyde H. Ross, 75, Osage City, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 1989, in an Osage City nursing home. Mr. Ross was a manager, operator, and bartender at many restaurants and clubs in the Topeka area including The Office where he was manager. He owned and operated the Shamrock nine years before he suffered a stroke in 1970. He was born April 24, 1914, in Delia, the son of Burt and Alice Hale Ross. He lived several years in Twentynine Palms, Calif., before he moved to Osage City in 1950. Mr. Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City. He married Wilma Lou Bolland Sept. 30, 1937, in Osage City. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Richard D. Ross, Osage City; a daughter, Janet Snyder, Topeka; a stepdaughter, name and address unavailable; and four grandsons. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Osage City. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. Mr. Ross will lie in state from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Ross, 75, Osage City. He died Saturday, Oct. 14, 1989, in an Osage City nursing home. Mr. Ross was a manager, operator, and bartender at many restaurants and clubs in the Topeka area including The Office where he was manager. He owned and operated the Shamrock nine years before he suffered a stroke in 1970. He, was born April 24, 1914, in Delia, the son of Bert and Alice Hale Ross. He lived several years in Twentynine Palms, Calif., before he moved to Osage City in 1950. Mr. Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City. He married Wilma Lou Volland Sept. 30, 1937, in Osage City. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Richard D. Ross, Osage City; a daughter, Janet Snyder, Topeka; four grandsons; and a stepgranddaughter. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. Mr. Ross will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the church. She was born December 29, 1934 in Topeka the daughter of John V. and Lucille Pusch. Delores was raised in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. She met John Davis Ross and they were married in 1954 at the chapel at Forbes Air Force Base. John served in the Air Force and they lived in Florida, California and Arizona before he retired and they moved back to Topeka in 1973. Delores lived in her home north of Topeka until moving to the Rossville Health Care Center three years ago. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, going to the casino, playing cards and the Christmas Holiday season. She was a big fan of the Royals and the KU basketball team. Her favorite snack was Oatmeal Cream Pies, and her favorite color was red. But her biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her grandchildren, April Timmons of Ottawa, Abram Timmons of Topeka, Joseph Timmons of Ottawa, Rebekah Timmons of Topeka, Joye Timmons of Topeka, Hope Timmons of Topeka, Christopher Willis of Topeka, Missy McLaughlin of Topeka, Mary Renova in Arizona, and Tony Wilson in Texas and Jonathan Ross in Arizona; two brothers, Ronnie Pusch in California and Jim Pusch of Lawrence, Kansas; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children, Jack Ross, Timothy Ross, Lori Ross, and Jeanene Timmons; her parents; and two grandchildren, Sean McLaughlin and Melvin Timmons. Cremation is planned. | 9522 |  | Obituary- Ross, Elizabeth Elizabeth Ross Mrs. Elizabeth Ross died at 11 o’clock Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ira T. Hopkins, on north Main street aged 80 years, 4 months, 5 days. Her death followed an illness that became serious last Friday, although she had been in declining health for several years. Mrs. Ross had made her home with the Hopkins family for the past seven years and they had been most devoted in her care and considerate in providing for her comfort and well being. Mrs. Ross was a native of Gillespieville, Ohio, where she was born October 28, 1842. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Ault. She was united in marriage to Adam Ross, September 13, 1866, at Gillespieville, Ohio. This union was blessed with five children – three sons and two daughters, of whom only the latter, Mrs. Alice Hopkins and Mrs. Ella Porter, both of this city, survive her. Other surviving relatives are her sister, Mrs. Celina Ross, of Wamego, and three grandchildren. In 1885 she and her family moved from Ohio to Wamego and in 1890 they came to Rossville. Mr. Ross passed away September 13, 1915, which was the 19th anniversary of their wedding day. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church conducted by Rev. H. P. Basquin, whose sermon was taken from Luke 24: 1-25. The body was laid to rest in Rossville cemetery. He married Grace Margaret Henderson on March 11,1950, in Topeka. She survives. In her early twenties she migrated to California to assist in the Rosie the Riveter war cause. She was acquainted with her husband Mike’s sister who introduced her to him. They married in Baileyville, Kan-sas in 1944. She and Mike started their family in Paxico but later moved to Emmett to the family home of more than 50 years. When her health failed her, she moved to St Marys Manor. Bernice was known for her cooking. Besides cooking for her family, she could be counted on for meals for unexpected friends, church bazaars and later in life contributed faithfully to the food pantry. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike and her infant son Gerald. Surviving are daughters. Sister Linda Roth, Kansas City, Patricia (Rick) Jones. He was born in Tipton, Ind., He was a past master of Hesperian Lodge No. Ill, AF and AM. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Emma Rouse, of the home in Rossville. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, from the Rossville Christian church, with the pastor Orel Newbury of Manhattan in charge of the service. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ruth Hesse and Mrs. Lorene Parr with Miss Thelma Parr accompanying at the piano. Pall bearers were, Jack Gleason, Dudley Barker, Ed James, Levi Keller, Delbert Olson, and Tom Bush. Burial was in Rossville City cemetery with the Masons in charge of burial service. | |
| 9538 |  | Obituary- Roush, Julia Mrs. Roush dies at age 82 Mrs. L. P. Hartzell has received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Julia M. Roush of Fresno, Calif. Mrs. Roush, who was 82 years old, had been in ill health several years. She suffered a stroke on Tuesday, March 13, and passed away on Saturday. Burial was Monday at Fresno. Another sister, Mrs. Gladys Wood of Beatty, Nevada, attended the funeral. Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Hartzell are the only remaining members of their family. Mrs. Roush leaves one daughter, three granddaughters and one great grandson, all of Fresno. | |

She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. Mrs. Roush was a member of Central Congregational Church and the Stormont-Vail Auxiliary. She married Walter E. Roush on January 25, 1926, in Jefferson City, Mo. He died in 1967. No immediate family members survive. A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Brewster Place in Topeka. Inurnment at the Rossville Cemetery was private. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, was in charge of arrangements. Lucy M. Roush Lucy M. | 9540 |  | Obituary- Rouviere, Carol Carol Reamer Rouviere LAWRENCE — Carol Ann Reamer Rouviere, 46, Lawrence, died June 18,2003, at her parents’ home. She was born Dec. 11,1956, in Topeka, the daughter of George and Doris Heideman Reamer. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1974. Mrs. Rouviere had been a legal secretary in Topeka for many years, and after moving to Lawrence she was the business manager for Cypress Systems and Aerospace Systems and Technolo-gies. She had been employed by The University of Kansas as an accountant for the Medicinal Chemistry Department. She married James Edward Rouviere on Aug. 29,1975, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include her parents, George and Doris Reamer, Silver Lake; and three brothers, Dennis Reamer, Burlingame, Kenneth Reamer, Delia, and Jeffrey Reamer, Silver Lake. Mrs. Rouviere was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, 3821W. 6th, Lawrence. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Mr. Rowe was a masonry maintenance worker at Topeka State Hospital before he retired in 1983 after 25 years of service. He served in the Navy from 1939 to 1947, and was a veteran of World War II. He was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Rossville, the son of Charles Henry and Flossie Keech Rowe. He was a 1936 graduate of St. George High School in St. George. He had lived in Oskaloosa since 1955. He married Lois Mae Luekenga on June 16, 1943, in Alma. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Timothy J. Rowe, Bonner Springs, and Thomas D. Rowe, Lawrence; two daughters, Mary Ann Jaimez, Topeka and Alberta Marie Bayless, Carbondale; five brothers, Vernon Rowe, St. George, Russell Rowe, Cottonwood Falls, Lawrence Rowe, Phoenix, Kenneth Rowe, Salina, and Ronald Rowe, Strong City, two sisters, Virginia Reed, address unavailable, and DeLores, whose last name and address are unavailable; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Margaret (Reding) Royal was born April 13, 1925, in St. Mary's, Kansas. She was the third child to Joseph and Elizabeth Reding. She attended school in St. Mary's where she graduated in 1942. She played basketball while in high school and was known for her underhanded shooting style from the free throw line. Margaret and Raymond Royal were married on June 23, 1945. To this union six children were born, Pat, Linda, Marilyn, Kenny, Bobby, and Tommy. The family lived in Rossville, Kansas and Topeka, Kansas during this time and Margaret took a civil service job at Forbes Air Force base in Topeka. In the fall of 1965, the family relocated to Clinton, Missouri for Raymond's work in construction. With the Vietnam War ramping up, the eldest son, Pat, entered the Army and was sent to Vietnam in early 1966. The family was dealt a tragic blow when Pat was killed in action on October 2, 1966, at the age of 19. Pat was buried in Englewood Cemetery and Margaret has attended every Memorial Day celebration there for the past 55 years. Margaret was one of the oldest living Gold Star mothers in both Missouri and the United States. | |

| 9545 |  | Obituary- Rudolph, Joe Joe J. Rudolph Joe J. Rudolph, 92, Silver Lake, died Wednesday, February 24, 1999, at the St. Marys Community Hospital. Mr. Rudolph worked in the family’s business, Rudolph Power Implement Company. He also farmed and raised registered black Angus cattle and show horses at Fullington Place, one of the earliest homesteads in northern Geary County. He owned and operated Milford Lumber Co. from the 1950s until Milford Dam and expansion at Fort Riley forced him to move in 1964. He was born June 14,1906, at Gill Township, the son of Joshua Easna and Emma Schweitzer Rudolph. He was graduated from Milford High School in 1931. He had lived in the Silver Lake area since 1964. Mr. Rudolph was a member of the Christian faith and was instrumental in starting several nondenominational churches. He was married to Dora Freeman May 15,1940. She died May 25,1997. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jo Lawson, in Geary County; a son, Edsel Rudolph, Silver Lake; and three grandchildren. His service was Saturday afternoon at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake. Relatives and friends met Friday evening at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. He was born April 17, 1910, near Ness City, the son of William Edward and Elizabeth Kitterman Ruff. He grew up in the Ness City community and had worked on the Goodman Ranch in Ness County for six years. He had lived in the Rossville community since 1934, and was a farmer. In 1940, he married Marsella Stadler. She died September 27, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Diehl, Palm Desert, CA; a son, Frank Ruff, Davidsonville, MD; two grandsons, Jason Diehl, Hollywood, CA, and Andrew Ruff, Davidsonville, MD. His service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday (this morning) in the Ness City Cemetery. | 9548 |  | Obituary- Ruff, Leo Leo Ruff Funeral services for Leo Russ, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the funeral home in Manhattan. Burial will be in Sunset cemetery at Manhattan. Leo was the sixth victim of an auto crash eighteen miles south of Topeka Monday morning and died at Christ's hospital in Topeka at 5:15 o'clock Wednesday morning. Jack Farley of Arkansas City, the fifth victim of the most tragic auto accident ever recorded in this section died at 5:15 o'clock Tuesday evening. Neither regained consciousness after the terrific crash Monday in which two others met instant death and two more were fatally injured. Leo Ruff, 23, had been an employee of the state WPA offices since September of last year. He had completed three years work in the engineering department of the Kansas State college at Manhattan, after completing his high school work here with the class of 1930. For the last few weeks he had been concentrating his efforts on water conservation work for WPA. Farley was president of the Farley Machine Works Co., of Arkansas city. Others who were killed as a result of the crash were: Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Gormley, Tulsa; Sam Wentworth, Hutchinson; and Paul B. Vautravers, Topeka. Vautravers and Ruff were riding in a Plymouth going south on High 75 when their car collided with a new Lincoln Zephyr going west whose occupants were the Gormleys, Wentworth and Farley. Vautravers and Mrs. Gormley were instantly killed; Mr. Gormley and Wentworth died in Topeka within three hours after the accident; Farley died Tuesday evening; Ruff died Wednesday. Both cars were demolished. Farley's dog, a thoroughbred pointer and a constant companion, died shortly after limping from the wreckage. Coroner O.C. Fritz, of Osage county, said there were no witnesses to the crash and intimated no inquest would be held. Leo is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Ruff and one sister, Miss Ada Marie Ruff of Chicago. She was born October 15, 1920 in Topeka, the daughter of Nicholaus and Barbara Walder Stadler. Mrs. Ruff lived in the Rossville community all her life. She grew up in the Rossville community and had lived on a farm near Rossville since her marriage. She worked in food services at the Topeka V.A. Hospital and the K.N.I. in Topeka. She later was a retail clerk for Woolworths and Arlyns in Topeka. For the past eight years Mrs. Ruff was a greeter at Wal-Mart. She was married to Dale C. Ruff on February 3, 1940 in Rossville. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Frank Ruff, Davidsonville, MD; a daughter, Mary Ann Diehl, Leawood; four sisters, Mildred Wallace and Irene Mader, both of Topeka, Ruth Cornelius, Newton, Kathryn Lombardi, Kenvil, NJ; three brothers, George Stadler, Tucson, AZ, Sylvester Stadler, Topeka, Nicholaus Stadler, Wichita; and two grandchildren.
